Who We Are

Life in Abundance is an independent Christian charity working in the Shoeburyness and surrounding area. Its aim is to reach out to the young people in this area with the love of Jesus. We are privileged to be based at Shoeburyness High School and have received incredible support from both the staff and the young people we serve.  Although we are independent we work closely with Shoeburyness & Thorpe Bay Baptist Church and would love to expand our volunteer base to include Christians from all churches in Shoeburyness.

The Aims of Life In Abundance

  • To give young people something they want
  •  To provide a place of high quality which is safe
  •  To Provide an opportunity for young people to meet Christians and be challenged about whom Jesus is
  •  To give church and Jesus a positive image
  •  To let young people know their true value and worth
  •  To use and involve young people in the whole process

Our Story

The vision for Life In Abundance began as a result of all the local Churches in Shoebury joing together to brainstorm how to meet the needs of young people in Shoebury.  The way that we decided would be best to meet the culture of Shoebury was to invest in a mobile skate park, the photos of which can be seen here.  Life In Abundance has always maintained as part of their vision to meet the young people of Shoebury where they were at; the skate park was a fundamental resource to pursue this vision.

The Skate Park ran until 2006, when it was agreed the need for it had diminished.  In the meantime, Life in Abundance had been offered an office within Shoebury High School, who had hosted much of the skate park activity.  As a result Life In Abundance became what is is today, and has been running in Shoebury High for over three years.  The Living Room, Generate, Christian Union and mentoring all came about within this time span, and we keep getting bigger and better every year!

Life in Abundance is still here in Shoebury High School and we are still working hard for the young people of our community. Please contact us with any questions you might have and if your a student here in the high school then pop in to say HEY!
